The strong material and immaterial historical preservation earned Caminhos de Pedra the title of “living museum”, which is considered a historical heritage of Rio Grande do Sul.
The name “Stone Paths” is inspired by the ancient stone constructions known as rammed earth, which functioned as fences or corridors for the movement of animals. One of the main differences of this itinerary is the welcoming hospitality, where the service provided by the owners promotes direct contact between producer and consumer.
The story of Italian immigrants is told through architecture, landscapes and customs. Visitors can experience the raising and herding of sheep in Parque da Ovelha, in addition to growing grapes and making wine in Cantina Strapazzon, whose house, dating from 1880, has been the setting for national film productions, such as “O Quatrilho”.
Next to Casa Bertarelo, visitors see a historic tree that is very important to the history of the region, as it served as a shelter for the first immigrants. All visitation fees are included in the tour price.
