Immersion in Italian culture is told at the Epopeia Italiana Cultural Park, a show with nine life-size scenarios that portray the real story of the couple Lázaro and Rosa, Italian immigrants who went through countless difficulties upon arriving in Brazil and, after much sacrifice and effort, they managed to prosper in the lands of Rio Grande do Sul. The show includes a colonial biscuit tasting.
Filó – Italian dinner on a family property: The first Italian immigrants who arrived in Serra, in 1875, did not find the advertised cucagna, synonymous with the land of plenty, where even salami could grow on trees. They found a mountain to explore, few resources and a lot of work. Even the food was shared.
And, in their rest hours, they met with neighbors, brought food and promoted filó, a meeting to exchange experiences of all types, where women gathered to talk, make crafts with wheat straw – the dressa, and the men to talk and do business and play, all without forgetting the moment of prayer, which was very important and seen as a way of reaffirming their faith.
In order for visitors to immerse themselves in Italian culture, the reception at this venue will be under the light of lamps and immersed in the nostalgia of family gatherings, in an atmosphere of the past. Typical dishes such as brustolated polenta, capeletti soup, pien, pasta sequence, rump with red wine, salami, cheese and other accompaniments of Italian cuisine will also be served, as well as desserts and drinks, such as artisanal wine, grape juice and water .
Furthermore, throughout the festival there will be a musical performance, lots of dancing, games, joy and a moment of immersion in the history of immigration with the presentation and explanation of the main tools used by immigrants when they arrived in the region. Those who participate in Filó have the opportunity to experience the recovery of the culture brought by Italian immigrants. Don't be left out!
