In 1931, twin sisters Aurora and Alba Cao, identical in every way – in their smile, body, face – every day took lunch in a small basket to their bricklayer father, Luigi Cao, who was building “a pavilion for grapes” in the city by Bento Gonçalves. It was the warehouse of the future cooperative, where everyone worked together.
The colonists became fond of the girls and they served as inspiration when they were giving the association a name. “Alba or Aurora?”, they asked each other and ended up opting for Aurora.
